The Passivating process is designed to remove foreign metals, oxides, and corrosion from the surface of stainless and corrosion resistant steels and to promote the natural tendency of  the surface to oxidize. The passivating process does not change the appearance of the base metal. The passivating process purifies the surface and therefore improves corrosion resistance.
